1. Polish the upper side of a reed
a. Prevent saliva from penetrating to rapidly
2. Better to moisten with water than saliva; rinse in water afterwards
3. Can soak it overnight in 3% hydrogen peroxide, and rinse afterwards to clean
4. Bending reeds just mean the moisture is not evenly spread, its ok!
5. Keep reeds in reed case/holder; on flat piece of plastic or glass
6. Cutting the edge when it gets to soft
a. Reed must be very wet first
b. Cut and test; can't remove more than 1.5 of a millimeter of reed
c. Can file tip to fit the mouthpiece
D. Unsatisfactory Reeds
1. Reeds need time to become flexible
2. If this doesn't happen, sometimes may be out of balance; some stiff parts
3. Can sandpaper some of the stiff parts; never touch tip or hart
4. Plastic and fiber reeds do not produce quality sound
